RT @ArtCrunchy: We could double the income of the 13 million poorest people in the UK by mildly inconveniencing 6 people.
Why don't we then?

On top of the good news we have the bad news. What are they thinking? The plan is illegal and inhumane!
RT @PoliticsJOE_UK: 🚨 An appeal at the High Court has failed

This is really the best news we have had for a very long time. It is quite sad that the result was ever in doubt. But hurrah for decent upright honest application of the law.
RT @ColossusDiplo: -
The multimillionaire Brexit backer Arron Banks has lost his libel action against the Observer and Guardian journalist @carolecadwalla, in a significant decision for public interest journalism.

RT @MarosSefcovic: Spoke to @trussliz earlier where she informed me of 🇬🇧legislation to unilaterally disapply the Protocol. The EU has always paid utmost attention to the impact Brexit has on NI, offering workable solutions. Unilateral action is damaging to mutual trust & a formula for uncertainty.

RT @carolecadwalla: It hasn’t sunk in yet but…SOME NEWS.

I am so profoundly grateful & relieved.

Thank you to the judge, my stellar legal team & the 29,000 people who contributed to my legal defence fund. I literally couldn’t have done it without you 🙏🙏🙏

RT @PaulbernalUK: To be clear, good people sometimes lose libel cases, and bad people sometimes win them. Libel verdicts aren’t a measure of virtue.

And now we have no food or energy strategy, just as we didn't when we had EU protections and strategies (weak & inadequate though they were). And the chickens have come home to roost. And the ERG buffoons have no 💡 what to do.
If we want a future for the 🇬🇧 we need Greens & 🇪🇺.

They saw that EU rules were regulating and curbing free markets and they thought that was hurting them (but it was protecting us). And they saw that workers & farmers were protected, and they thought exploiting people would be more lucrative.

That concealed the lack of strategy and the slavish dependence on completely insecure last minute supplies of food, gas, oil, labour and water treatment chemicals. And no one bothered to think that this made the country a sitting 🦆

No government of this country, for decades, has had a proper strategy (or any strategy) for food or energy security. They relied on the EU to provide certain kinds of strategic intervention, regulations and incentives to mitigate the worst of free market deregulation.

Thread worth reading.
RT @rfhaviland: Recent years have led many of us to question what we once felt about this country. But one thing I do believe is that most people, whether here or elsewhere, feel instinctive compassion for those in need when they are not being subjected to a drip feed of propaganda. THREAD

PS, you'd be amazed at the idiotic suggested easy solutions people are suggesting. There's only one solution and that is to free Ukraine, and ensure that Russia doesn't gain anything from the aggression and is not encouraged to repeat the process over and over.

Somehow the wars of the rich countries and the global North are always played out in the disadvantaged countries and continents, ruining lives and displacing millions... Who will then be labelled economic migrants, because they just asked for something to eat.
RT @TimothyDSnyder: Russia has a hunger plan. Vladimir Putin is preparing to starve much of the developing world as the next stage in his war in Europe. 1/16

Yesterday evening I went to Chapelfield Gardens for the brilliant show by @thecommonlotnc, called "Songs of Hope and Protest". Anyone in Norwich who hasn't seen it yet should get down to Cow Tower today at 🕒. Features results of UEA project on the history of protest songs.

RT @Bbmorg: Brexit is like poison - but those that poisoned us don’t want it talked about and we are meant to pretend it wasn’t poison and yet it is slowly eating away at our country - all the worse because no one will talk about it.
