@ACarpenDigital A better plan if you didn't want to shrink the economy would have been to think of a less damaging kind of Brexit (or none at all). But even better would be to look at the real problem, which is not about growth or recession as such, but inequality and distribution of wealth.

@twose_brian @adfreecities Of course, we need to stop bogus healthy foods being promoted too. And the messages being put out in schools need to be updated (some falsehoods still circulating about fats). Ending advertising in general seems to me to be a desideratum. It always aims to create consumption.

@twose_brian @adfreecities Yes indeed. The fad idea that "plant based" = ethical is a travesty. Needs to be firmly squashed, especially by revealing how complicit it is in rainforest destruction. As for cheese, that's a seriously outdated misconception. It's a very healthy option.

@twose_brian @adfreecities Yes well we do need to be aware of how much this contributes to how unhappy we are, as well as the immense monetary and human costs in health care and shortened lives. Advertising unhealthy things and prompting you to add them to your basket could easily be a thing of the past.

The wording in this feature is misleading on several points. We don't "consume" plastic. That's precisely the problem. We throw it "away" but it doesn't go away. It stays in someone's formerly beautiful world. Pretty well for ever. Not "for some time".
