@ShimanoSteve @Sustrans @lambeth_council @SocEnvJustice @activetraveleng The studies weren't funded by sustrans. And I don't agree with the policies of sustrans. But the findings are that everyone benefits in an LTN. Business, active travellers, car drivers, bus travellers, children, the elderly, the disabled. Everyone.

@catherinerowett
As much as I'm a supporter of #LTN as I do not have a car, they were implemented in a rush in our area, now removed.
Problems found in our area
1) Taxis did not know where the barriers were. My wife is disabled and we were dumped quite away from home due to a barrier.
2) Delivery firms were not able to find their way.
3) Dog walking businesses and the like would refuse business if you were on the wrong side of the barrier.
4) Other roads were very busy.

@catherinerowett I'm not sure why people feel the need to pretend all LTNs are created equal. The reality is, the few that are properly researched and planned are good but an awful lot of them are shite because they were done on the cheap.

My local one actually made the neighborhood worse to cycle through because it took traffic off the two busiest routes and spread it across a dozen previously quiet streets. It was better before when I just had to manage two hotspots.

@catherinerowett In reality, the thing that usually stops me from taking my bike instead of the car is the lack of secure storage where I need to go and the fact that the police just don't seem to give a toss about bike thefts.

It gets even worse if you've got something like an ebike that's worth a few thousand pounds. You can get insurance, but in my experience you can't rely on them paying out.
