@Cockle43 @DrRebeccaTidy @airbnbs But how do you do that when the number of holiday lets is currently way over what you’d allow if you were starting from scratch? Who gets to keep theirs? Who has to sell up? Impossible to put the genie back in the bottle

Great piece from ⁦@mirandeee⁩ about what the Dartmoor ruling means to people who love spending time in this magic wilderness

@0utdoors @EveryonesStars I have every indication that this result will backfire spectacularly. He has lit a fire in the hearts of everyone who values access to open spaces like this.
Everyone has a limit, and maybe this has just pushed a whole load of people right over theirs...

Great to see @RichardFoordLD will raise the issue of the right to wild camping on Dartmoor in Parliament next week. Couldn’t agree more with his belief in the benefits of outdoors experiences especially for our young people.
So good to have a @LibDem MP working for Devon
RT @RichardFoordLD: We must protect people’s right to respectfully enjoy our green spaces and national parks. They must remain open and accessible, not closed off. I will seek to raise this issue…

@ZQW1958 Landowners say people leave rubbish and light fires. Truth is those who wild camp (hiking/cycling with small tent) know how to respect the moor and behave responsibly.
Those who light fires, leave rubbish and ignore the code are the ones who will doubtless carry on doing so

So it's OK to shoot grouse on Dartmoor if you have a wealthy mate, but it's not OK to pitch a wee tent, watch the stars come out and wonder at the magic of our planet?
There will be a revolt, I can feel it happening. The little people will rise...

RT @EveryonesStars: As we reel from the news that wild camping is no longer legal on Dartmoor, we call on 'Old Crockern', ancient protector of the Moors, to help oppose this decision.

✨Join us and @Right_2Roam next Saturday to call on Old Crockern and resist this ruling.

@Traveloguer There is a lot to be angry about right now, but this feels personal to so many of us. Why should people have the right to shoot grouse, but not experience the wonder of sleeping under the stars? Because they are rich? Because they have wealthy mates? Can't wait for the appeal.

RT @Right_2Roam: ANNOUNCEMENT: RIGHT TO ROAM GOES TO WAR.

Today's decision by the High Court to revoke the right to wild camp in Dartmoor - the only place in England it was legal - is an absolute outrage.

Today RTR launch a ferocious campaign to fight for our right to sleep under the stars.

RT @openspacessoc: We’re deeply disappointed to hear the outcome of a recent high court case, which is that there is no right to wild camping in the National Park. The society is concerned that this could cause innocent wild-campers all over England and Wales to feel threatened. (1/2)

To clarify - Darwall has won the right to prevent wild camping on the area of Dartmoor that he owns. Remains to be seen whether other landowners now follow suit. Darwall is sixth largest landowner on Dartmoor.

the Dartmoor NP Authority in an appeal.
We'll be part of a movement that not only reopens Dartmoor, but land right across England for people to enjoy.
This may well backfire on Darwall... despite his financial support for local Tory MP @AnthonyMangnal1

Appalled to hear hedge fund manager Darwall won his case to stop wild camping on Dartmoor, the last place allowed in England.
Tragic that camping out under the stars is over - for now.
I look forward to supporting @EveryonesStars and @Right_2Roam with theguardian.com/environment/20

Support for leaving EU has fallen significantly across bloc since Brexit says a Europe-wide survey.

Funny how fewer and fewer people want to follow this 'world beating' nation into meltdown and chaos.

Thanks @jonhenley
