Other interesting idea floated by @J_A_Hillman to reform dispute settlement system is to replicate system used for TRIPS discussions: informal process led by WTO DG with few core members where text proposals can be tested in a more neutral environment. @EP_Trade
According to @BernardHoekman WTO reform not absolutely necessary in order to deal with spill-overs of domestic policies on others. One example: mention 'specific trade concerns' that some WTO committees already use. Would help to diffuse tensions before formal dispute. @EP_Trade
E-vehicles subsidy scheme in US lacks serious reflection on WTO compatibility. Shows the waining faith in US policy circles in WTO in general and dispute settlement in particular. At the same time EU and US views on WTO are closer than 2 years ago. @J_A_Hillman in @EP_Trade
