The more we have paid France, the more there have been illegal crossings of the Channel.

@RishiSunak has just agreed to pay them even more. Expect numbers across the Channel to go on even higher.

Crucially there is no abrogation of the provisions of the ECHR. Indeed Section 49 creates exceptions based on ECHR rulings.

It won’t work if the ECHR is allowed to intervene.
