RT by @anapalacio: The Belgian government and its nuclear utility (Engie) have reached a final agreement on keeping it's two newest reactors operating for 10 more years.

The news is ostensibly good, but also quite bad. Apparently, they're sticking to the plan to close their other 5 reactors (and replace them with gas). The following statement is wrong, and frankly offensive.

"We have extended the two nuclear power plants that could be extended."

This is pure BS. There are no technical reasons why all of the other 5 reactors couldn't continue to operate. There are no valid economic or environmental arguements either. Extension of those other five reactors would reduce both power costs and environmental impacts, vs. the gas generation that will be used in their place.
