Today I awarded the Grand Cross of the Order of the Lion of Finland, the highest decoration that can be awarded to a foreign ambassador, to Douglas Hickey, US Ambassador to Finland. Ambassador Hickey’s personal contribution to bringing the relations between Finland and the US closer than ever before is significant.
