Last year has been particularly challenging on EU Agencies, bodies and the Commission due to 🇷🇺 aggression of Ukraine, the migration crisis, and rise of cross-border crimes. They must have quickly adjusted to this new reality. I wanted to highlight in drafts that I presented for your consideration the efforts that they took to deal with the consequences of war in Ukraine.
For instance:
👉 the deployment by
nitter.cz/Frontex
of about 500 standing corps officers working along the eastern border to support member states with irregular migration,
👉 the Fundamental rights agency being the first 🇪🇺 agency at the border to monitoring the situation of fundamental rights at Ukrainian border,
👉 extraordinary support of our
nitter.cz/EUAsylumAgency
to member states for coping with the refugee influx following the Russian invasion of Ukraine,
👉 the DG JUST’s activation of temporary protection directive OR
👉 the extension of
nitter.cz/Euro_Justice
mandate to include preserving, analysing and storing evidence relating to core international crimes.
I tried to compile reasonable and balanced text. My priority for all opinions is to remain factual. They should reflect the reality in the agencies, rather than our political debates.
For instance:
👉 when we talk about Europol we should not discuss the legality of its founding regulation.
👉 when we discuss Frontex we should not question whether there is a need for border agency,
👉 when we talk about EPPO we should not try to name and shame member states that decided not to participate in this cooperation.
