Dinsdag moet Pieter Wittenberg voor de Griekse rechter verschijnen. Samen met andere hulpverleners, vanwege het redden van levens die de Griekse regering in gevaar bracht. Laat 2023 het jaar worden waarin criminalisering van hulpverlening wordt afgeschaft. En pushbacks bestraft

The Taliban’s oppression of women’s rights reveals their deep hatred for women, who have lost all freedoms now. But Taliban also shows a contempt for the whole Afghan population, as banning NGOs will hit millions of people on the brink of famine.

Time and again, Greek authorities obstruct and criminalise humanitarian assistance, but violate their international obligations themselves. BREAKING: Hans Leijtens has been appointed as Frontex's new executive director, in line with the recommendation of the EP.
I sincerely wish him all the best with the reforms that the agency urgently needs to undertake to ensure that human rights are respected at our EU borders.

If true, it would be appalling. The Polish bill doesn’t meet the requirements for independent judiciary. Concessions to the rule of law in Poland in exchange for securing the rule of law in Hungary would be unacceptable. We have called for urgent clarification by the Commission.

Astonishing that Parliament was not informed about an OLAF investigation into one of the candidates for Frontex Executive Director.
It suggests that the Parliament’s opinion and role in this procedure is worthless to Commission and Management Board.

Vluchtelingen moeten asiel kunnen aanvragen zonder daarvoor een levensgevaarlijke reis te ondernemen. Daarom ben ik blij met akkoord tussen EP en Raad over een wet die het uitnodigen van kwetsbare vluchtelingen financiert. Nu zijn de landen aan zet om hier gebruik van te maken!
