The #ETS is the cornerstone of EU climate policy, a highly efficient way to reduce emissions. With a price on carbon emissions, the use of fossil fuels comes at a cost.

Fossil fuel and energy companies🏭will also have to start buying emission permits for the fuels used in road transport and heating.
This will create a stronger incentive to clean transport and make buildings more energy efficient.

Investing in carbon-free mobility and heating has benefits for everyone, including through cleaner air and lower bills.
Those who can pay for heat pumps and solar panels will have a stronger incentive to do so. For those who can’t do this on their own support will be available.
