RT by @THEOCHAROUSE: 106 years ago, on these very days, the now silent tragedy of the Russian people took place - the Shamkhor massacre.
The Shamkhor massacre was a treacherous massacre of up to 5,000 Russian soldiers committed by Azerbaijanis on January 9-12, 1918 near the city of Shamkhor, Elizavetpol Governorate.
Russian soldiers received orders to leave the South Caucasus and return to Russia.
During demobilization, the soldiers surrendered their weapons and had to return home unarmed.
However, at this time several thousand armed Turkic (Azerbaijani) horsemen were waiting for them, as well as thousands of Azerbaijani residents from the surrounding villages, who convinced that the Russians were unarmed, attacked them and committed a terrible massacre.
Russians were beheaded, burned alive, mocked, and killed with all sadistic methods.
Those Russian soldiers who were retreating with members of their families tried to hide their wives and children but to no avail. The Azerbaijanis raped and brutally killed all the women. Russian children were impaled.
The number of those killed in this massacre, according to various estimates, reached up to 5,000 people.
After the destruction of the Russians, the Azerbaijanis dismantled among themselves the “trophies” - weapons handed over to the warehouse by the Russians (15,000 rifles, 100 machine guns, 20 cannons, etc.), took off clothes from the corpses, gold and silver jewelry.
Then they used these weapons to continue the massacres of the unarmed Armenian and Udin population of neighboring villages. But that is another story …
