RT by @THEOCHAROUSE: Taking into account @NikolPashinyan 's speech in the European Parliament yesterday and several of his statements since September 19:
1. I have the impression that the Armenian authorities have abandoned even the general precondition-principle related to Artsakh in the process of regulating Armenia-Azerbaijan relations, specifically, guaranteeing the rights and security of the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh within the framework of international mechanisms.
2. After the genocide and forced displacement of the people of Artsakh, it's highly unacceptable and impermissible to eliminate the bar, not even to decrease it. The forced displacement of the people of Artsakh has not solved the problem, rather exacerbated it.
3. This situation obliges both the Armenian authorities and international actors to review their failed approaches and raise the bar for guaranteeing the rights and security of the people of Artsakh. The main goals should include the return of the people of Artsakh to their homeland, ensuring high international guarantees for safe living there and the necessary level of autonomy for living in a dignified manner. I will address this conceptual approach in a separate post.
4. I have the impression that all the parties interested in settling Armenia-Azerbaijan relations are somewhat glad with the fact of the genocide of the people of Artsakh, naively thinking that the conflict had been resolved and a window of opportunity for a "peace agreement" had opened. The reality is that there cannot be peace in the region at the expense of the blood and tragedies of the people of Artsakh, and even the genocidal and dictatorial Aliyev will not be satisfied with that. Therefore, the issues of the rights and security of the Artsakh people must be seriously and definitively addressed within the framework of regulating Armenia-Azerbaijan relations, otherwise this …
