This week saw the deadline for @UKLabour National Policy Forum reps to submit amendments to our final year policy documents ahead of this summer’s National Policy Forum meeting that will agree our policy platform for the General Election.

🚰I’ve submitted an amendment seeking stronger regulatory safeguards for water companies, ensuring water utilities provide value for money and operate in the interests of consumers, business customers and the environment.

I’ve submitted an amendment seeking a commitment in legislation the @TUCMidlands @GMBMidlands Dying to Work charter, seeking stronger workplace protections for people with a terminal illness. I’ve long supported this important campaign and championed it in European Parliament

The current model of childcare is not sustainable with high numbers of child minders and nurseries closing, leaving families in the lurch. My amendment seeks a new model with security for families, staff and providers.

I’ve submitted an amendment calling for strengthened accountability in the SEND education system for children, parents and carers.

🌍Working with @LabourCID and @CoopParty my final amendments supports reintroducing a new standalone Department for International Development on day one of a Labour Government, ensuring the UK is again a global leader on international aid and development

I’ve also seconded amendments on important issues including legal recognition as victims for families and those with caring responsibly following sexual or violent crimes;
food standards and a fairer food supply chain;

devolution of transport powers including buses to mayors and local leaders; and ending licensing of chemical cosmetic animal testing; and political and constitutional renewal.
