It’s inspiring to see the unstinting efforts of local food bank volunteers and the generosity and kindness of shoppers donating but we should never see the situation where so many people need food banks as acceptable.

This winter the collection feels incredibly important, with demand increasing at food banks as more and more people face hardship.

Donations to food banks will make a real difference:
▪️Over the last six months 320,000 people have turned to a food bank for the first time.
▪️This winter, in response to the cost of living emergency, food banks expect to distribute 7000 emergency food parcels every day.

▪️And in the first half of this year, food banks have had to purchase more than twice the amount of food than the same period last year. Every donation makes a real difference.
