RT by @RebHarms: For the past three days, I had the big privilege and pleasure to lead three 🇺🇦 soldiers through Berlin for nearly 20 meetings with parliament, government and experts. We found a big openness to meet and listen to the Ukrainian soldiers and talk about their situation, tactics, strategy and needs going into 2024.
Part of the visit were: Orest, Sergeant of the 66th mechanized brigade, Ostap, Senior Logistics Officer from the mechanized 47th Brigade, and Tata, a commander of a medical evacuation unit from the Hospitallers Medical Battalion. Two of them came from the front lines near Lyman and Avdiivka to where they will return tomorrow.
Both Orest and Ostap were civilians before February 24 2022 and never thought of being an integral part of fighting an existential battle for the survival of Ukraine.
They were here to tell their stories, give insights into the situation on the battlefield from their unit’s and brigade’s perspective and share their thoughts on needs of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. With their different backgrounds they surprised me by their sincerity and clarity, despite all difficulties they remain confident that a more nimble, agile and innovative 🇺🇦 Army with the help of the western allies will prevail over a larger Russia, which continues to grind down and deplete its forces with human wave attacks and extremely high losses of people and equipment.
In the next days, I will share more insights and their stories. The trip was organized by the small consultancy I run called the German-Ukrainian Bureau and made possible by our partner @ICUVua. It is the second of such soldier visits we organized. The last one was of two tank commanders in February and was equally well received by the German counterparts.
