A little know fact: sometimes when conifer trees are felled they are not replaced with saplings. Instead the peat on which they were planted 25+ years ago is restored. Environmentally this is the right thing to do but we then need compensatory planting in new un-forested areas.

Building tall with wood in Japan. Time for the UK to rethink its 'ban' on doing likewise? Canada, USA, Sweden, Austria, Norway, France, Australia etc all building tall with wood to reduce emissions from the built environment &amp; to safely store carbon in the timber.
