RT @andyheald: There is a perception that woodland creation & tree planting 🌳🌲in Scotland is increasing yr on yr.
Over last 4 yrs it has plateaued.
Target is 18,000Ha in 2025 vs c.10,500Ha now.
@theCCCuk raised concerns in their report (P.26) to Govt. in Dec'22 ⬇️

RT @ramskirism: Finally got to see this 50 acre field in real life! Rows a mixture of apples, pears and elderflower with a wheat and chicken rotation planned for in-between. Until recently, the rows were sub leased from tenant farmer, an interesting model which has much wider potential! https://t.co/teBqmcCQEF

Impressive display of buttercups on the Town Moor in Newcastle today. The cows were slightly out of shot and further away. Amazing that this scene is only one and half miles from the city centre of Newcastle. The largest open space closest to a city centre in Europe.

@James_BG Exactly. As a former Labour MEP who sat on both the agriculture & environment committees in the EU Parliament the only stand out possible benefit of leaving the EU was leaving the Common Agricultural Policy but ONLY if we came up with a better alternative. So far we haven’t.

@SpeakSarahSpeak @James_BG Excellent. Good to see. The Scandinavian’s are starting to use timber structures for their wind turbines, combined with concrete foundations. Is this something you’ve considered? Or would consider? It drops the carbon footprint & stores carbon in the structure @CEIBois

I’m presuming this is the good work of @N_landCouncil approaching Ponteland. Grass cut short next to road for visibility & pedestrian use. Left to grow (no mow May) next to the hedge. Thank you from the insects. Looks good too.

@SouthYeoFarm @peteraf1 This is easily explained, Victorian Plumbing is a wholly owned subsidiary of Victoria’s Secret with some staff working across both businesses. Hence an easy drafting mistake to make, I would surmise.

In the 🇺🇸, unprecedented funding is flowing into a broad range of #agroforestry practices, which can pull carbon out of the atmosphere and build farm resilience as the #climate changes.

@lwhemmings @JurajMikurcik Re ‘greenest’ a major contribution has to be the carbon stored by the product. This makes wood fibre insulation ‘greener’ than any mineral wool or polystyrene or sheep’s wool. Sheep’s wool will have a relatively low embodied carbon, probably lower than wood fibre. Consult EPDs?

@turbotechdog More trees (on those farms with currently few trees) would also help. Growing talk in wider European circles about all farms having 10% tree cover which could be in multiple formats, creating multiple environments.
