@holmergreenndf @peteraf1 @BucksCouncil We have a major housing shortage in many parts of the UK. You either build up and in a denser format OR you go sideways and sprawl, eating up the countryside. Or a bit of both. Far too many suburban new builds eating into the green belt. We must optimise land use better.

@BurchertMichael It could be camouflage to reduce the possibility of attack from the air?

@Geruish @GeorgeMonbiot Agree it's not a 'vast mega mono culture' but we need to ask is this landscape maximising storing carbon? Is this the most efficient food production possible? Have we optimised the biodiversity opportunities? And I guess it's not doing these things despite it being a nice view.

@Geruish Not wishing to over interpret what is essentially a calming view but given 'land use should be seen as perhaps the most important of all environmental issues' @GeorgeMonbiot is this view problematic? i.e. Lack of trees? What's the crop for? Is the livestock needed? Trimmed verge?

RT @CSkidmoreUK: As a new poll out in @telegraph today shows Conservative members overwhelmingly support rolling out more energy efficiency measures and renewables- including onshore wind- let’s get on and deliver an energy security revolution at lower cost for the U.K. 👇

RT @STfLLondon: EXTREMELY URGENT: All hands to the watering can! 💦 need more watering than usual in , the lives of young trees are esp. at risk! 🌳😨 Any dry tree, 20 litres, 2/3 times a week, regardless of rain. It's almost impossible to give too much. Please start now! 🙏

@DrSteveFawkes @BBCr4today @BarrattHomes @AECBnet Agree we already know how to do it. Strikes me that until they can do the right thing without it reducing their profits they simply won’t do it. A voluntary approach isn’t working, need to make it the law, which also creates a new level playing field.

@ConcreteOntario Something that is not appreciated is the heavy weight of concrete mixer lorries. This weight means the tyres wear faster releasing particles of rubber into the air causing pollution leading to poor air quality. This needs appreciating. Timber is a lot lighter hence less pollution

🐦🔗: nitter.eu/PaulBrannenNE/status

@ArchitectsCAN This criticism is entirely justified. New buildings should be carbon sinks in their own right without needing to buy carbon credits to get 'across the line'.

@JacoMajor @Build_in_Wood @ttinc @NewLandMKE No, Mjøstårnet is 85.4m tall & is all timber, see moelven.com/mjostarnet/
Yes, Milwaukee is taller at 90m but has seven concrete floors, see wiehag.com/en/references/ascen
But the Milwaukee concrete-timber hybrid is a most welcome addition - more please.

It is not. This is a hybrid timber/concrete building with the lower third reinforced concrete and the top two-thirds timber. Norway still has the tallest wooden building in the world.
RT @Build_in_Wood: 𝗔𝘀𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁 | Milwaukee, USA is now the tallest timber building in the world. 🌲🏨🏆
🌱 45801 m³
🌱 86.6 meters high
🌱 25 storeys
