RT @DrSimEvans: It would be helpful if climate sceptic commentators learned – just a little – about the UK's rapidly evolving electricity sector, before writing hand-wringing articles about how it's going to hell in a handcart
(Obv I'm not so naive as to believe this will happen)

I wonder if they've seen this video https://thekidshouldseethis.com/post/cement-concrete-minute-earth The less concrete we use the better for the climate.
RT @ConcreteDialog: The #construction sector is a value chain with many players. To reach our common #sustainability goals, dialogue with our partners is key. We join our voices to support #concrete as the backbone of our society & transition to low-carbon economy. Let's keep the dialogue alive! 🙌

@ROCKWOOLGroup Maybe its time, in the interests of transparency, you started stating physically on your products how much embodied carbon they contain. From a whole life carbon perspective you don't look so good when compared to nature based insulations such as hemp, straw and wood fibre.

@jimbomania @BarnabasCalder @FT We are talking about using less concrete, not no concrete. Add to which wooden wind turbines now exist:

In 2006 when Christian Aid launched its climate campaign the cement industry was considered as a target (I wrote the proposal). We should all be very sceptical of "low-carbon concrete". Even if emissions were 50% lower (unlikely) it would still be responsible for 4% of global CO2
RT @SustainableTall: Can construction cut carbon and keep its love affair with concrete?
This building material is tough, affordable — but heavy on GHG emissions

@BarnabasCalder @FT The fact that concrete is 'heavy on emissions' is actual the answer to the question 'Is it affordable?' The reality is that in a climate crisis concrete is no longer 'affordable' given it generates 8% of global carbon emissions ie along with USA & China its one of big 3 emitters.

@canadawoodgroup Any indication yet as to whether occupancy rates may be lower compared to hospitals built from concrete & steel due to the biophilic qualities of wood? Big financial savings if this proves the case!

Totally agree with this comment. Across Europe agroforestry accounts for around 9% of farming but much less in the UK however it's growing. Lots of information here: https://www.agforward.eu/
RT @SmallholdersUK: Agroforestry, or ‘farms with trees’, if you prefer, is the best kept secret in agriculture. Yet this is how humans farmed for thousands of years. “Where did it all go wrong?” I hear you cry. We’ll look into that tomorrow.
