Very interesting from journalist
nitter.cz/guillaume_ptak
on the frontlines and the need for quality of life kit which comes often from volunteers. And some soldiers buying their own.
He mentions
nitter.cz/BackAndAlive
and I would mention
nitter.cz/frontlinekit
whose boss Richard Woodruff came close to being skewered through the head by a falling icicle. Yes, not a joke! Get out the wallets. These soldiers need the support more then ever. You know why. Oh and listen to the episode. There is one every week day.

There are reasons for this:
1. To do otherwise makes the therapist feel uncomfortable. For a whole host of reasons.
2. They are afraid that the client will leave.
In fact this is WHY the client will leave.
Psychotherapy is a collaborative task. Sometimes the collaboration is edgy and difficult. Why? Because it is a relationship. A special one. Intimate yet with boundaries. We are designed or trained by experience for that.

Horrifying stuff. The GOP [and Orban] will be disgraced by history. If Russia does this Ukraine will engage in insurrection. I’ve no doubt there are plans for that.
Surely

you don’t want that on your record?

"Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) said that Zelensky had invoked the term “guerrilla warfare,” alluding to the bloody, unconventional tactics employed by insurgents against occupying U.S. forces in Afghanistan and Iraq"
Of course. No one should expect surrender.

John Sweeney: "There are far too many people in the West who don’t understand how dangerous Putin is"
Yes. And another group who do understand and don’t care.
Sadly some of these have political power.
They will be shown by history to be profoundly stupid.
In the meantime before that more Ukrainians will die.

"Ukrainian military leaders have said they believe the American expectations were unrealistic, especially given the fact they had ⚡️no air power⚡️with which to protect their ground units"
Once again one measly sentence for a major deficit.

My god! There are too many dying and being mutilated. Somehow this has to be ended. The GOP should be ashamed and Hungary expelled from the EU. Art 7 and 8 of the Lisbon Treaty provides for that.
None of that will happen. Speaking as a former MEP. 😔

It’s hard enough to be without family over Christmas.
It’s excruciating not knowing what is happening to him"

Good and lyrical description of PTSD. Now being endured by many thousands in Ukraine. We don’t get to claim "fatigue" with aid and help. Alex is tired too but he can’t rest. Unquiet. Every space is full of noises. War noises. He may be afraid of sleep. Where the unguarded mind endures further assaults.
We do see him surface eventually.
Indifference is not an option. (TW PTSD)

Doing this can be a way for the therapist to reassure themselves and avoid silence and uncertainty. I guess we all do it sometimes. All the time? Perhaps time to find another line of work.
This avoidance is another reason why people generally engage in "optimism bullying"
If that’s you don’t do it. A depressed person (for instance) already feels bad enough without being chivied along with platitudes.
