RT by @MarietjeSchaake: By killing Hamas' Arouri in southern Beirut tonight, Israel has shown that it would take the risk of a wider war engulfing Lebanon.

Arouri is not as well known as Sinwar, but he was as crucial in reviving Hamas post-2014 Gaza war by rebuilding relations with Iran and Hezbollah marred by their differences over Syria.

Hezbollah now faces a major test:
- should it escalate despite Arouri not being Lebanese (and how does it sell this to a fearful Lebanese public)?
- if it does not escalate, what will be the perception of Hezbollah's deterrent credibility?

This is a moment of great danger.
