In Washington voor overleg met de VS over de handel met Nederland. Allereerst een ontmoeting met Nederlandse bedrijven hier - buiten de EU is de VS onze grootste handelspartner. We hebben de kansen besproken voor bedrijven en wat het kabinet kan doen om daarbij te helpen.

Hulpverleners moeten altijd ongehinderd levensreddende hulp kunnen bieden.

Aid workers must always be able to provide life-saving assistance unhindered. I am shocked by the Russian attack on the centre of aid organisation @iamCARITAS in #Ukraine - sister organisation of the Dutch @Cordaid. My deepest sympathies go out to the families of the victims.

Gesproken met de Oekraïense ambassadeur Maksym Kononenko over de oorlog in Oekraïne. Met name over humanitaire hulp, die essentieel blijft voor de bevolking. Die hulp moeten we samen met de internationale gemeenschap bieden.

Had good meetings with Ministers @nicupopescu and Revenco about #Moldova's extraordinary commitment to hosting Ukrainian refugees.

The war in Ukraine has a big impact on the 🇲🇩 population and economy. 🇳🇱 makes €10 mln available to support Moldova with the reception of refugees.

Met ministers @nicupopescu & Revenco sprak ik over de buitengewone inzet van Moldavië in de opvang van vluchtelingen.

De oorlog in Oekraïne heeft grote impact op de 🇲🇩 bevolking & economie. NL stelt €10 mln beschikbaar voor de financiering van de opvang.

We moeten in Europa deze vluchtelingencrisis en humanitaire crisis samen het hoofd bieden.

Door de internationale steun heeft Moldavië ook weer meer financiële ruimte om door te gaan met de ingezette hervormingen. Een stabiel en veilig Moldavië is ook voor ons belangrijk.

The Moldovan people have welcomed many refugees from #Ukraine. I experienced this first hand at a refugee centre in Chisinau. But as one of the poorest European countries, Moldova is reaching capacity. The Netherlands is providing support, such as humanitarian aid. 1/2

We have provided critical items like blankets & tents for example. 🇳🇱 will take in 500 Ukrainian refugees, who are now in Moldova. Ukraine and its neighbouring countries deserve our support in these difficult times. We continue to work together with other countries & the EU. 2/2

Zo leverden we eerder dekens, slaapzakken en tenten voor de eerst opvang. Op korte termijn zal Nederland 500 Oekraïense vluchtelingen van Moldavië overnemen. Oekraïne en de buurlanden verdienen onze steun in deze moeilijke tijden. Dat doen we samen, met andere landen en de EU.

Vandaag werkbezoek in Moldavië. De gastvrije bevolking vangt veel vluchtelingen uit buurland #Oekraïne op, bijv. in dit opvangcentrum in Chisinau. Maar als een van de armste Europese landen loopt Moldavië tegen zijn grenzen aan. NL steunt op meerdere manieren, zoals met noodhulp.

In 🇰🇪 zijn er voor 🇳🇱 bedrijven veel kansen in sectoren als gezondheid, land- & tuinbouw & logistiek. De 🇳🇱 overheid ondersteunt hen daarbij, kijkt naar mogelijkheden om handel duurzamer te maken & probeert samen met de ondernemers ook iets te betekenen voor de lokale bevolking.

De vraag naar zorg groeit hard in Kenia, waar ik op werkbezoek ben. Vandaag bezocht ik het Kenyatta University ziekenhuis. Mooi om te zien dat Nederland ook in Afrika via publiek-private partnerschappen samenwerkt met bedrijven, ngo’s en de lokale overheid aan toegankelijke zorg.

Good meeting with Transport Minister Macharia. Discussed our ambition to improve the connection of 🇰🇪 & 🇳🇱 ports through a 'Cool Logistics Corridor'. This enables long-life products, such as flowers and vegetables, to be transported by ship in special refrigerated containers. 3/4
