RT by @JanAlbrecht: ❗️ Iran has executed a German and Iranian critic of the Ayatollah regime. His execution caused an international scandal
The Iranian government has carried out the execution of German citizen and opposition activist Jamshid Sharmahd, who was kidnapped in Dubai in 2020.
Jamshid Sharmahd, who grew up in Hanover, lived in the United States and was a computer programmer. In the United States, he launched a website criticizing the crimes of the Iranian regime and covering human rights violations.
Opposition activist Jamshid Sharmahd was detained by Iranian authorities in August 2020 after he was kidnapped by Iranian regime agents while being transferred to Dubai. He was sentenced to death in February 2023.
Iran has accused Sharmahd of organizing terrorist attacks, including the 2008 bombing of a Shiite mosque in Shiraz that killed 14 people and injured more than 300. Sharmahd himself and his supporters deny the allegations, claiming they are fabricated to undermine his activities and the Tondar movement.
The day before, it became known that Iran's Ayatollah regime executed the opposition activist. The news of Sharmahd's execution sparked a wave of outrage and demands for strict measures against Iran. His daughter Gazelle Sharmahd called for “severe punishment” for the Iranian regime. Chancellor Olaf Scholz called the execution a “scandal” and Annalena Baerbock warned of “serious consequences”. CDU party leader Friedrich Merz called for a sharp downgrade of diplomatic relations with Iran.
