The sickening behavior of the soldiers *contradicted* the most basic IDF rules of engagement, namely the commands on opening and withholding fire.
Note that the IDF investigated and aired the results very quickly. The only honest thing to do. It would have come out anyway. This is still a democracy.
This moment may be a turning point in civil society’s patience. We are shocked not only by the accidental killing of the hostages, but also by the foul ease on the trigger.
This behavior is immoral, illegal, does not and *must not* represent the IDF.
