@sandtreader Actually the post Covid boom is probably the largest factor causing inflation. Job of monetary authorities is to smooth out the reverberations, not exacerbate them. But that would be politics and we’ve chosen to abdicate political responsibility for money

In the middle of a cost of living crisis this action will damage families and businesses

Of course we can’t be complacent about inflation, but this sort of increase in the cost of money will surely push us into recession
