As they told me, there is much that speaks against it: not only do international fossil companies hold the largest shares in the projects, but the infrastructures also have a massive impact on maritime ecosystems and regional fishery - an important economic basis of the country.

Germany's energy commitment in Senegal should therefore be limited exclusively to renewables (#JETP): a dirty gas deal would not be responsible - and it would undermine Germany's future credibility when it comes to climate policy.
