JETPs are a relatively new form of climate governance and financing, first established during between a consortium of donor countries and South Africa. The aim is to provide grants and loans specifically for socially just energy transitions in the respective countries.

A is also planned between Senegal and Germany, among others. However, Germany's energy commitment in the country is not limited to renewable energies, but also aims at promoting fossil infrastructures - particularly in order to secure natural gas imports to 🇩🇪.

In the coming days, I will therefore be holding various talks on the risks of natural gas production and the opportunities and hurdles of a JETP. Thereby I will be accompanied by @sascha_m_k. I am very much looking forward to this!
