This year we celebrate Small-Scale Fisheries. Crucial in the EU, they represent around 80% of our #fishing fleet, and contribute to 48% of employment in 🇪🇺 fisheries.

Typically, these are family businesses, where owners are directly involved in the fishing activity, and play an important role in local economies.
To support their work, the 🇪🇺 ensures that the small scale fleet:
- are exempted from certain obligations that apply to larger vessels
- have access to the fisheries Advisory Councils to get their voices heard
- can be financially supported by EMFAF
