Wildfires have become a pan-European concern. They affect lives, livelihoods and the environment.
To help countries combat wildfires, we're doubling the #rescEU aerial firefighting fleet, which includes includes 24 airplanes and 4 helicopters from 10 European countries.

The risk of #wildfires across Europe is rising. We can all remember last year's 🔥summer.
With Member States, we have drawn lessons and ensured that more assets are available also at EU level for 2023.
As of today, we are doubling the #rescEU aerial firefighting reserve fleet.

Delivering on the #SOTEU promise, the EU has expanded its shared firefighting fleet called #rescEU.
It now includes 24 airplanes and 4 helicopters from 10 Member States.
Almost 450 firefighters will also be strategically stationed in 🇫🇷🇬🇷🇵🇹.
