European farmers want to spend less time dealing with red tape, and more time focusing on what they do best: providing the safest, highest quality food in the world.
We've listened to their concerns, and in consultation with EU countries, proposed short and mid-term actions to support farmers, notably to achieve administrative simplification. These proposals have been discussed today at the meeting of agriculture Ministers in Brussels.
In March, we will also reach out to farmers via a survey, to better identify their main sources of concern, and understand the sources of administrative burden and complexity.
Simplification of our agriculture policies is a constant priority. With these actions, we are delivering on the pledge we made to our farmers to accelerate this discussion, while maintaining the integrity and taxpayer value of the Common Agricultural Policy.
