In the framework of the support to the Libyan border authorities, EUBAM Libya, in cooperation with the Spanish National Police, started today a basic training course on Criminal Intelligence for the Libyan Border Guards (MoD).

EUBAM Libya contributed to a 2-day training workshop for 19 Libyan public lawyers, including 16 female participants, on legal assistance to victims, witnesses and defendants involved in human trafficking and migrant smuggling cases.

EUBAM Libya stands with Human Rights defenders. Human Rights Day is observed every year on 10 December, the day that the UN General Assembly adopted in 1948 the Universal Declaration on Human Rights. The 2022 Theme is: Dignity, Freedom and Justice for All.

Training course conducted by EUBAM staff for 14 border guards closed successfully. In total the training on international humanitarian law was a 5 days workshop and was being held in Tripoli.

Almost 1 in 3 women around the world have been subjected to physical and/or sexual intimate partner violence, non-partner sexual violence, or both at least once in their life. EUBAM Libya condemns any kind of violence against women and girls. @natalinacea

At least 200 million of women and girls have undergone female genital mutilation in 31 countries where the practice is concentrated. EUBAM Libya condemns this practice as well as the fact that 15 million adolescent girls worldwide have experienced forced sex.

Across 5 regions (Africa, Europe, Asia-Pacific, Americas and Arab countries) 82% of women parliamentarians reported having experienced some form of psychological violence while serving their terms. @natalinacea

This year, the EU pays special attention to VAW in conflict areas and humanitarian crisis settings. In Ukraine, but also in Myanmar, Libya, Afghanistan, Ethiopia, the DRC, CAR, South Sudan and Yemen, women and girls suffer from conflict related sexual violence.
