Today, the Council of the European Union appointed Stephanus Blok, from the Netherlands 🇳🇱, to serve as a new Member of the European Court of Auditors.
👉He is appointed for the period from 1 September 2022 to 31 December 2025 to complete the term of the previous Dutch Member.
On Tuesday 26 July, we will issue an Opinion on the proposal for #REPowerEU, the 🇪🇺’s plan to rapidly reduce dependence on Russian fossil fuels and accelerate the green transition.
"We take note of the progress made, but in our view, the rules for managing the existing and the new proposed own resources are not always consistent.
We therefore urge the @EU_Commission to align these rules as much as possible and consolidate them in a single legislative act"

The @EU_Commission has proposed three new categories of own resources to help pay back part of the money borrowed under the #NextGenEU.
