Not the EMA's fault but ecommendations are cute yet totally insufficient.
What must be addressed is the risk of generics' drug substances being produced
1 - by 1-2 manuctures only
2 - these manufacturers being located in one region of the world and or by one cooperation only.
Will this mean rising costs?
Absolutely.
But /this/ is the task at hand:
Telling people the truth that if they want to drastically reduce shortages, manufacturing will be more expensive.
