4/4 In 2018, we launched a unique bond on the capital markets: the #Sustainability Awareness Bond. It finances projects with substantial environmental and social impact - improving access to equitable and inclusive #education is one of its key eligibilities and priorities.
3/4 The EIB has a holistic approach and a long experience in #TransformingEducation, from early childhood to vocational and professional training, to universities.
Since 2000, we have signed almost $50bn in loans supporting education investment projects - more than $2bn per year.
2/4 The #COVID19 pandemic and the current shocks to the global economy have exposed the global inequalities of access. It forced us to rethink and innovate on #education.
Yet, investment is lagging behind.

It is even more necessary to go for #energy independence, to organise the transition process with resolve. Otherwise we will play into the hands of autocratic regimes who make energy a weapon.
The #climate transition is not a problem it is part of the solution. However we know this is going to be a marathon not a sprint: if we enter it we must be able to go all the way to the end.
