Eva #Kaili's corruption case in my opinion is not an attack on democracy, but an extremely serious corruption case. It shows that the EP as an institution & certain present and former members prove to be a weak spot. What happened is seriously threatening EP's reputation.

At a joint meeting of @EP_Economics & @EPSocialAffairs @VDombrovskis suggested that amid the present rising living cost crisis European households pay a reduced price till a certain amount of energy, & higher price above that limit. This is exactly what HU govt has been doing…

The declaration is a reaction to the  German Bundestag’s November 10, and the Dutch Parliament’s November 17 resolutions regarding the conditionality of EU funds against the #RoL situation in #Hungary. Hungary cooperates, but does not accept lecturing.

Using the model of #RRF for governance issues makes me even more worried. Remember: HU fulfilled its promises in line with its agreement with the COM in August, but it seems complying  is not enough for getting the EU funds.

Exchange of views in @EP_Economics yesterday on the latest COM's communication on SGP reform. I pointed out that with increasing the COM's discretional power it is unsure how the taylor made debt sustainability treatment of MSs can remain objective.

In this case what was agreed earlier by/ HU and COM. And #Hungary did so. Central aspects missing means COM simply converted the #conditionalitymechanism a political sanction, which lacks objectivity. However, we take a long breath and keep working.

Commission on Wednesday proposed that €7.5 billion of EU funds be withheld from #Hungary over rule of law concerns, saying Budapest “failed to adequately implement central aspects of the necessary 17 remedial measures”. Central aspects? You can only implement concrete measures.

Important debate at @EP_Trade today on #EU-#US relations. I emphasized that it is a mistake that we are always late in our reaction, as it is the case with the highly discriminative #InflationReductionAct. We need to be firm on defending our interest.

3., I am firmly against #QMV in fiscal policy. That should remain in national competence. The right to decide must be where the responsability lies.

My three points for @EP_Economics regarding the way forward after the #CoFoE.
1., maintain institutional balance. EP should not get into the "who-is-more-democratic" game with MSs.
