The goal of the EP is not a strong, competitive European economy but the legislative encirclement of prosperity and of an ideal world - even in opposition to the Member States - no matter at what price. It's a suicidal strategy, it leads to impoverishment.
The EP wants the EU to trade only with partners who meet the European values. This is wrong: we need diversification, new markets, new possibilities for our companies. We should trust in our transformative power, and not use trade as a weapon.
The EP constantly pushes the boundaries and drags the Commission into more and more impossible conditionalities in the field of trade policy.
The EU is in a state of split consciousness: it knows it has to fight for external markets, mineral resources and raw materials but still it wants to be a missionary of the world with its ideology.
The EU's sanctions policy is irresponsible, unreasonable, demands huge sacrifices and does not meet the expectations of economic actors.
The EU seems to be on the wrong path. Citizens are worried about high inflation, cost of living and energy prices. The enemy of economic development is unpredictability and volatility. EU needs to behave responsibly towards its citizens.
Accelerating the green transition during the hardship caused by the war: at what price?
The gap in EU's competitiveness is only growing compared to the USA and Asia. EU gas price is 10 fold of that of the US, 2-3 fold of that of Asia. And we are even making the situation worse with many measures.
McKinsey report 2014-19: EU companies with revenues greater than EUR 1 billion spent 40% less on R&D, grew their revenues half as fast and were 20% less profitable than American ones. The main reason for this is that the EU lagging behind in high tech industries. Wake-up call!
EU's economic power is shrinking: only 6 European companies in world top 50, in comparison with 14 in 2001. There is no EU city among the 10 largest financial centers in the world. We need to do more. Better business environment is key.
EU has faced 3+1 crisis in less than 15 years (sovereign debt crisis, Covid, war+Brexit and climate changes). Somehow, EU has always had harder time in recovering than its international competitors. For handling the present challenge, the war in our neighborhood we need cool head
