@OriginalWhig Most Whigs allied with the Conservatives as Liberal Unionists. The "and Unionist" bit of our party's title dates from their formal merger in 1912. Others were absorbed as Coupon Liberals and, later, National Liberals. We are a coalition of Tories and Whigs.
