RT by @ClareDalyMEP: FIBA Europe Competition Regulations include:

1⃣ Safeguarding the safety of the players, officials and fans including to decide the cancellation of part or entirety of the competition
2⃣ Prohibiting menacing, intimidating or unsportsmanlike behaviour and
3⃣ Restricting the advertising for certain products to protect basketball values (including war or arms related products).

🚫FIBA cannot guarantee the safety of the Irish basketball team.

🚫Recent footage of the Israeli basketball team hosting IDF combatants with military grade weapons, on the basketball court during a training session requires FIBA to cancel their match against Ireland.

🚫As per their own rules, FIBA cannot allow the Israeli team basketball to advertise war and weaponry on the basketball court, it is ‘unsportmanlike behaviour’.

🚫FIBA must impose a heavy fine and sanctions against Israel.

🧐The Irish government must support Basketball Ireland in their work to redeem its reputation and demonstrate the values we expect in international sporting competitions.'
