A dystopian UK where the preciousness of life is further dismissed & even judicial appeal is to be curtailed in the determination to normalise Euthanasia & Assisted Suicide even when none of the medical criteria of life expectancy or capacity are robust in their determination.

RT by @CharlesTannock: NEW: my thorough and lengthy analysis of the Assisted Dying Bill. I don’t talk the morals or principles of whether or not assisted dying is good. I focus on the drafting—is it fit for purpose? I conclude ‘no’. (🧵)

The imprecision of a clinician's ability to accurately predict survival or gauge capacity reliably should alone give the Assisted Suicide/euthanasia supporters pause for concern if they have moral scruples.

RT by @CharlesTannock: Crazy that some politicians want to prohibit smoking (i've never touched a cigarette) while also wanting to legalise assisted suicide.

Libertarians? Consistent. Those who are religious? The same.

But how do you arrive at lethal injection being fine but not some Marlboros?

Unusually I agree with the former leaders of my former party. I still have some conservative instincts it would seem.

Now that is a smart move to appeal to the President-elect. It is an amazing legacy to become a Nobel Laureate and highly rewarded in pecuniary terms.

RT by @CharlesTannock: “32% accuracy in predicting the patient was in their final 6 months.” This makes flipping a coin more accurate than asking doctors if they think someone terminally ill will be alive in 6 months.

That's also the main criteria of eligibility in the Leadbeater bill.

RT by @CharlesTannock: As @AlexanderRaikin revealed, Ontario's euthanasia regulators found 400+ apparent violations & have laid no criminal charges.

Prof. Daphne Gilbert, who teaches criminal law, says she'd be "happiest if nobody was talking about MAID... if it was just something that was happening."

Of course nothing to do with Brexit. The truth which can never speak its name.

We should learn from other jurisdictions which have travelled down the AS/euthanasia path.

Why I will forever oppose state assisted termination of life. My medical trained ethic is simply: 'Thou shalt not kill but thou shalt not strive officiously to preserve life' in those deemed terminally ill and in need of palliative care. Never had any doubts about this axiom.

RT by @CharlesTannock: The Assisted Dying Bill would create the worst thought-out legal framework anywhere in the world, a legal expert has said, as MPs are set to debate it. theconversation.com/assisted-d

RT by @CharlesTannock: Public support for legalising 'assisted dying' falls to just 11 per cent when people learn what it actually involves, a major new poll reveals. dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1

Makes a nonsense of the Leadbeater Assisted Suicide Bill. Doctors are NOT Gods! Ps I know as I am a retired one myself.
