report:
In this critical decade for the

, it’s vital the new Government acts swiftly to make up for previous decades of failings, with a clear plan of action whose timeframes are necessarily dictated by the climate science...

RT by @CarolineLucas: Fantastic to hear @sianberry give a shout out to two @bhasvic students in her maiden speech to Parliament as part of the >@CitizensBH alliance that saw >@BrightonHoveCC fund a pilot for mental health support

[2024-07-17 19:24 UTC]

Great to see Green MP
nitter.privacydev.net/EllieCho
table parliament’s very first Early Day Motion & to do it on issue as important as sewage discharges from reckless privatised water companies - bringing water back into public hands is vital first step

Damning new
nitter.privacydev.net/theCCCuk
report shows reckless approach of Tory Govt means we’re way off track to meet our

targets. Test for new Labour Govt must include huge building insulation & retrofit scheme, & bold measures to decarbonise agriculture, plant trees & restore peatland

RT by @CarolineLucas: .@TheGreenParty has backed the Climate & Nature Bill since @CarolineLucas proposed the very first version in 2020

If there's one thing I could have added to the it would have been the

We, the next generation of Green MPs, will make this a priority 💚🌍🦋

RT by @CarolineLucas: Listened intently but what was clearly missing from the was INVESTMENT.
❌ NHS
❌ Council homes
❌ Green New Deal
And powers for councils to run buses are ✅ but little use without INVESTMENT!
Green MPs will keep making the case that our country deserves better.

Plenty to welcome in new
nitter.privacydev.net/search?q
but lots of gaps too - eg no commitment to taking water sector out of grip of profiteers & putting into public hands, no plan to address poverty including lifting brutal 2 child benefit cap, and a big hole where nature restoration should be

[2024-07-17 11:04 UTC]

RT by @CarolineLucas: 📺 "That's a choice the Labour government could take."

@carla_denyer on the need to immediately scrap the cruel two-child benefit cap.

[2024-07-16 16:02 UTC]

RT by @CarolineLucas: "Where there are real gaps in what Labour is putting forward... We will work with other parties to challenge that."

Green Party co-leader Adrian Ramsay responds to @MarthaKearney who asks how the party will hold Labour to account on plans outlined in the King's Speech today.

[2024-07-17 06:41 UTC]

If Labour is serious about integrity in politics, they simply can’t defend the hugely undemocratic first past the post system which handed them 2 thirds seats on 1 third of vote & effectively disenfranchises so many in “safe seats” whose votes don’t count

RT by @CarolineLucas: Research by the IFS shows 2.6 million children will be affected by the two-child benefit cap by the end of the next parliament.

The policy also disproportionately affects families of colour.

It is a political choice to keep these children in poverty.

Very sorry to hear of the death of Mary Mears, former leader of

Unity born of diversity is at the heart of this amazing England team & that’s worth celebrating whatever happens tonight. It’s not just about football coming home - as Andrew Anthony says, “far more importantly, football has helped make our home” 👇

RT by @CarolineLucas: Shocking news overnight from the US - with grave implications for democracy. There can be no place for violence, harassment, abuse or intimidation in politics. Elected representatives and those in positions of power all have a role and responsibility to defend democracy and heal divisions rather than stoke hatred.

RT by @CarolineLucas: I am horrified by yet another senseless massacre of Palestinian civilians by Israel: 71 killed and nearly 300 wounded in a zone where Israel itself had told them to seek refuge. The justification is always the same: "targeting Palestinian militants". When is the world going to stop this death machine??

“If non-voting was a party, it would have largest share of support by far”. Alarm bells should be ringing over lowest turnout since 1928 - just 52% of UK adults. A fairer voting system where all votes count has to be first step to rebuild trust - Labour??
