Tory privatisation of vital public service like trains was always a terrible idea. Glad there's one nightmare Tory policy Labour will commit to reverse. But why won’t they extend the same logic to the obvious shitshow that is our water? Bring that back into public hands too Keir!

Outrageous this Govt has backtracked on its promise to address crippling rent rises with a bill that allows rent tribunals to actually *increase* rents beyond the amount landlords initially asked for - a massive disincentive against tenants bringing a case.

It is utterly deplorable that nearly 1 million people have been issued S21 no fault eviction notices since the Govt pledged to ban them 5 years ago.

The brass neck of this Govt trying to duck responsibility for breaking 5-year old promise to ban no fault evictions as they cave in to landlord lobbying.

1 in 4 households renting are living in fuel poverty - and it's no surprise given renters live in some of the coldest, draughtiest homes in the country. I’ve put down this amendment to insist on improved standards to end this scandal and ensure everyone has a warm, decent home👇

[2024-04-24 12:57 UTC]

Heading to the Chamber to do all I can to stand up to this failing & faithless Government breaking their promises to renters. One of the amendments I put down tries to get them to address the scandal of high rents with a desperately needed system of rent controls.

👀 List of Tories supporting one of the key amendments to water down the Renters Reform Bill. What does the (R) by names mean? Registered interests. Looks like landlords turning out in force to scupper a bill that was meant to protect renters' interests, not their own finances

There is serious and credible evidence the Israeli Govt is breaking international law. UK Govt has admitted in court it’s got no response from Israeli Govt to questions it's asked about it, yet just now at
nitter.privacydev.net/search?q
Dowden basically says we just need to trust them? Not good enough.

[2024-04-24 11:40 UTC]

Renters have been waiting for almost 5 years for the Govt to end no fault evictions. Dowden made out at
nitter.privacydev.net/search?q
it will happen today - but what he fails to mention is that Tory landlord backbench MPs are still making sure a ban won't actually happen in reality any time soon.

[2024-04-24 11:25 UTC]

This Govt's total inaction has let down renters, let down leaseholders, and Dowden attacks Labour's record? Is he not aware who's been running the country for the last 14 years?
