So depressing from Starmer. We've already had 14 years of austerity - hasn't the penny dropped yet that it simply does not work? If
nitter.privacydev.net/UKLabour
won't invest in the UK, why do they think anyone else will?

You know it's bad when Conservatives from Rudd to Patel are telling this Govt not to politicise extremism. What we're seeing from Sunak's Govt now is downright dangerous. The issue of extremism is far too serious to be used as an election strategy.

RT by @CarolineLucas: The elephant in the room when it comes to public finances is the £40billion loss of tax revenue every year due to Brexit. It dwarfs the discussions about £2billion more here, £2billion less there.

Thank goodness for
nitter.privacydev.net/HughFW
- why on earth does Labour prefer more austerity to alternatives like a wealth tax on the super rich? They should listen to eg
nitter.privacydev.net/Patrioti
. It’s plainly unfair that assets are taxed so much less than income

Just dire that Rachel Reeves still refuses to invest in the green economy - public investment crowds in private investment & cuts fuel bills. Instead of locking themselves into arbitrary fiscal rules, Labour should be honest that borrowing to invest is sound economics

RT by @CarolineLucas: Today’s event at the Dome for included our own >@BHGreens and some wonderful projects and campaigns supporting better lives, services and support for women across the city. It was great to spend time there between doorknocking.

RT by @CarolineLucas: in Brighton knocking on doors for @sianberry. Residents agree:
💚 whoever next gov is, we need Greens in parliament to speak truth to power
💚 a Green MP = an independent, unwhipped voice in Parliament. Brighton knows how special this is.

The Government's rail reform plans are way off track and passengers are paying the price. Time to bring our railways back into public ownership to address the cost of living and climate crisis with affordable public transport for all.

RT by @CarolineLucas: “The magic money tree is an inherently conservative narrative. It deliberately propagates a false understanding of how the economy works… It seeks to delegitimise public spending, framing policies that improve conditions for ordinary people as unrealistic and wasteful.”

Happy

everyone. Many of my favourite books & writers are those that bring the natural world to life, as the poet John Clare explains in this quote. What books do you love for how they evoke the power and beauty of nature?

Just when you thought Labour couldn’t swing any further to the right …
This is just terrible for anyone who still thought they might offer an alternative to austerity
