RT by @CarolineLucas: For Shell to post billions in profits, through a strategy of prioritising oil and gas over clean energy, just days after the planet experienced its warmest day on record, is sickening.

The Government should increase the rate of the windfall tax on these oil and gas giants and close the existing loopholes and tax-relief mechanisms they benefit from.

The profits could be spent on a programme of home insulation to bring down bills and reduce our carbon emissions.

RT by @CarolineLucas: ✅ Cancelling the Stonehenge road project will be the right decision but for the wrong reason. The country NEEDS capital investments, and to find amazing cost-benefit ratios, the Chancellor should look at council housing: buying, building and refurbishing. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c724g0

RT by @CarolineLucas: 🇬🇧 Today marks a very dark day for fundamental human rights in the UK. Daniel Shaw and his co-defendants have been sentenced to spend 4 & 5 years in a prison cell for planning a peaceful protest. This decision is beyond comprehension. RT by @CarolineLucas: Just one of the outstandingly ignorant things Judge Hehir said to the defendants during the trial.
He refused to listen their reasons for their actions, he ignored climate scientists, and he gave harsh sentences.
I will speak on this in the Lords next Weds.
