RT @DannyVet: Many of us have no water in our homes for the third evening in a row, and today I learned that Southern Water will be increasing bills by 10%.

Whether dumping raw sewage or leaving us without water, the performance of this company must be discussed Parliament asap.

RT @bennewmark: 1. Thread on the most positive masculinity I've ever seen.
A few years ago I worked in Leicester and would stop to get a takeaway curry on Narborough Road on way home.
This was probably a Friday but can't be sure.

Are you fed up of MAJORITY govt, elected on a MINORITY of votes, under the archaic voting system❓

Do you believe in FAIR REPRESENTATION for all & that EVERY VOTE should COUNT❓

If someone said to me about "talking around" something I would assume they mean "avoid the subject" because that's what go around means.
RT @Madz_Grant: Has anyone noticed that people have replaced the word 'about' with 'around'? - e.g. "Let's talk *around* that". But around has a totally different meaning to about. You can't talk *around* anything! It's gobbledegook

Any other examples of egregious management speak on the rise?

@slowbikeiain @shhill191 You're right. I was assuming this is out of hours, when they can't. Or of there's no line they can't.

A lot to improve.

The ridiculous thing is that in most of England, the Conservative government won't allow councils to penalise this anti-social behaviour.

Technically the police can, but they are very busy.

RT @iancolintaylor: Ouch: A slump in business investment since Brexit has cost the UK around £29bn, or £1,000 per household, a Bank of England official has warned.

@Theos_Nan You're right, we need more crossings. We have asked for them on, for example, London Road but they say "it's not safe enough to encourage people to cross" - which is the point of course!

@Direthoughts You should take that one to the ICO and if necessary the Information Tribunal to see what they say.

@d2syr Creating more local options for people who don't have them doesn't mean you have to. But you'll benefit from better air quality either way.

@ResurrectedBar2 I get where you're coming from if you out to work by motor every day for a long day you may not feel like walking but there are more people WFH all/part of the week or people who don't work like pensioners, stay at home parents and like local options.

🐦🔗: n.respublicae.eu/AntonyHookLD/

@ResurrectedBar2 That's good if you have services you could walk to, not everyone even has the option. The "why" for me is it's just more pleasant, exercise, not contributing to pollution, might bump into one or more of my neighbours.

🐦🔗: n.respublicae.eu/AntonyHookLD/

@ResurrectedBar2 According to Google maps, which I find generally estimates walking speed more or less right, I have my Co-op and two more convenience stores with <15 mins. Most of my town has at least one shop in 15-20 minutes. It can be better but it's possible.

Essential? Rubbish. We've had votes for everyone for 100 years without your backdoor ID cards law.
RT @Councillorsuzie: Voter ID is essential- what’s the problem? It must be enforced. Why are the left so against it…. 🤔
