For decades we have been dumping millions of tons of plastic waste outside the EU.
🤢 Those countries are drowning in our plastic waste.
With this ban, we are putting an end to that!

In a nutshell: by turning off the plastic tap:
👍 we solve the root of the problem;
💪 we get an additional incentive to use less plastics, differently and better;
♻️ we create incentives to better design products and build more recycling plants.

And for all other waste streams, I won another victory:
All waste handlers in non-EU countries must finally follow EU-standards.
💪 We take our responsibility. I am 100% convinced that we will succeed!
Next step is to convince Member States, to be continued in spring!
