@Luca_soci @michele_geraci Unfortunately, you mix up EU governance with NATO’s one. EU members are directly affected by the EU commission political guidelines. On the contrary, NATO decisions about common strategic initiatives are taken by the principle of consensus. That makes a big difference.

@Luca_soci @michele_geraci While on the military side, the USA has big space to interfere on States where it has its own military bases. With other NATO members the US pressure is much lower and less effective

@Luca_soci @michele_geraci In other words, staying in NATO allows any member State to stop any decision by the veto power; staying in EU does not, except for the few topics where consensus is still needed. NATO = USA is a false statement. The US interference in western policies is eased by EU institutions
