We need to end the high standing charges, which mean that people who use very little water pay more per unit than the profligate. With precious resources it should never be cheaper to use more. #WaterCompanies

We need to have the water works in public ownership and not for profit, with strict standards and scrutiny, and sack the managers if they fail to deal with overflow issues. Maintain crucial infrastructure from the public purse, not from customer bills. And not by private tender.

@catherinerowett The internet, phone, electricity, gas suppliers are privatised and I can choose which companies I give my money to. Why can't I choose my water supply and sewage disposal company? And choose ones that are ethically run, don't over abstract chalk streams and don't pour sewage into them.
Because privatising natural monopolies makes no sense. That's why.
