I'm absolutely gutted to see that CAP will no longer be delivering workshops in primary schools to teach children how to stay safe from abuse.
Having watched their workshops I know the quality of their work and the care and passion behind it.
But a total, utter lack of funding

for any kind of serious prevention or education work, despite the sector literally screaming at government for decades, means that work like this is almost impossible to deliver.
Work that teaches children how to stay safe. Work that educates young people about the impact of

sexual violence. Work that teaches our teenagers what consent really means and how to have healthy adult relationships.
All we can do is try and mop up the mess while nothing ever changes because no one wants to take this seriously or commit money to it.

... @AnthonyMangnal1 I don't know if you did any work with CAP but as a local organisation I hope you are aware of their closure and I hope you pulled out all the stops you could to try and prevent it.
We owe it to our youngsters to do all we can to keep them safe.

And if I am the next MP for Totnes, one of the things I will take into the job with me is the rage I feel at the lack of importance given to this vital area of education - it's a public health emergency that no one is taking seriously.
