RT by @anapalacio: Recent Israeli Polls have shown that Netanyahu’s far-right coalition would lose if elections were held today, but one new finding caught my attention: Most Israelis, 56%, now support changing the racist 2018 nation-state law, compared to only 40% in September. Why, especially in midst of war?
Three likely reasons:
1. Palestinian Israeli leaders have almost universally condemned the October 7 attack and some of the victims of the attack were Arab.
2. The Druze, who serve in Israel's army, have been among the strongest critics of the law; now, many have been killed and wounded in the war in Gaza, with some high-profile victims.
3. About 40% of medical workers in Israel are Arab, and that percentage rises when Jews are called into military reserve as medical services also become even more critical. This creates inevitable sense of affinity.
